Book Review – Theobold the Iron-Hearted

This little book was first published in 1871.

Theobold the Iron-Hearted and Erhard the Lion are the two main characters. They are knights who do battle.

Each of these characters has to learn about Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount – Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to those that hurt you…something most of us struggle to do on a daily basis, if we are honest. Therefore, the content is an excellent reinforcement of how we ought to possess these godly traits.

There is also a multigenerational theme that is present because the grandfather and son play a role in the story, too.

This story is especially for boys; however, it is great for the whole family, as that is how we read it and both girls and boys enjoyed it.

The only thing that I did not like were the illustrations! I thought they were corny. ;-)

This book is excellent. I read this to my son last year (he was 10 at the time). We enjoyed all of it and even the “corny” pictures. ~smile~

  2. Glad you were able to read the book to your son, Margarete, and that you enjoyed it all. :-)
