I don’t know about all of you, but we’ve had our share of car repairs over the years, especially since our cars are older (’92, ‘93 and ‘95). I remember when we went to Texas in 2006. Our muffler came partly off, so Robert had to tie it up. On that same trip we had a tire blow out on the interstate; in God’s providence, we were going up an incline so we were not going our normal speed. Besides that, once we got home the fuel pump, I think it was, “went” right at the curb in front of our house – now that’s “perfect” timing, don’t you think?

We have talked about making a trip out to California, but have not done that yet. It would be great to visit Robert’s relatives there, but as a trip to California would take us at least as long as a trip to Canada, we have never felt right about taking a trip out there. If someday we do and our old vehicles hold out, then I think if we ever get into the Los Angeles area, it might be good to look up some Los Angeles auto repair places, don’t you?

We don’t have a Ford Explorer, as we need a bit bigger vehicle than that, but we do have a Ford 15-passenger and a Ford Windstar that Robert drives to work. I don’t remember us ever having a head gasket go, but, if I remember correctly, there was a recall on a couple of Ford parts that we had to have repaired before we went on an extended road trip. As a precautionary measure, we try to get a vehicle check with our mechanic before we go on a longer journey. We also like to be members of AAA, ever since our eventful trip to Texas. These are just some things we’ve thought about before taking a trip in an older car. Live and learn!
